Payment and cancellation
One part of this is fixed by the park authorities rather than by us: gorilla permits are paid in full at booking and are not transferable. Our own schedule is set out in your quotation.
What the park authorities fix
These come from the Uganda Wildlife Authority and the Rwanda Development Board rather than from us, and no operator can vary them.
- Gorilla permits are paid in full at the time of booking. Uganda withdrew its seven-day reservation hold in March 2026, so there is no longer a way to hold a date provisionally.
- Permits are tied to a named person and a named date and are not transferable.
- Discounted low-season permits — USD 600 in April, May and November — cannot be rescheduled. That restriction is the trade-off for the USD 200 saving.
- Refund and date-change positions are set by the authorities and revised periodically. We state the terms applying to your booking in writing at the time of booking, rather than publishing percentages that may be out of date by the time you read them.
If another site quotes you an exact refund figure, check the date on it.
Our payment schedule
Our deposit and balance schedule, accepted payment methods and cancellation scale are set out in your written quotation before any payment is taken. They are being finalised for publication here.
Travel insurance
Whatever the terms say, insurance is the practical protection on this trip. A permit is USD 800 to USD 1,500 per person, non-transferable, and in the discounted months not reschedulable under any circumstances.
Take a policy that specifically covers non-refundable elements, and take it at the point of booking rather than closer to travel. It is the single most useful thing you can do to protect the money you have committed.
