A Kampala-based operator, licensed by the Uganda Tourism Board. Being Ugandan is why the gorilla half of this trip is ours to run rather than ours to outsource.
Who we are
Travelmonke Tours and Travel, trading as Travelmonke, is a tour operator registered in Kampala, Uganda, and licensed by the Uganda Tourism Board under UTB/RTT/TT/2025/101816.
We build Kenya safaris combined with gorilla trekking in Uganda and, for travellers who prefer it, Rwanda.
Why a Ugandan operator for a Kenya trip
It is a fair question and we would rather answer it than leave it hanging.
The gorilla trek is the harder half of this itinerary to get right. Permits are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and, since March 2026, must be paid in full at the moment of booking with no reservation hold. Sector allocation determines your lodge. The Entebbe to Bwindi transfer is the decision that makes or breaks the trip shape. All of that is our home ground rather than something we arrange through an intermediary.
The Kenyan half is a well-developed market with excellent operators and infrastructure, and it is more straightforward to run well.
To be supplied before launch
These sections stay empty rather than being filled with invented copy:
Company story — year founded, how the business started, what it looked like at the beginning.
Team — director and guide photographs and biographies. Reviewers already name Eddy, Julius, Edrine, David and Amon; what is missing is who they are, what each guides and for how long.
Kenya operations — whether the Kenyan leg runs on our own vehicles or through a named Nairobi partner. Travellers ask this, and a straight answer is worth more than a vague one.
Fleet — vehicle types and configuration.
Memberships — any association memberships beyond the UTB licence, and only if genuinely held.
Photography — the wildlife and landscape images now on this site are library images, correctly captioned for what they show but not photographs of our own departures. Confirm the licence covers commercial web use, and replace the gorilla trekking and Masai Mara images with our own as soon as we have them. Owned photographs stated as owned are worth more than any of these.
What we will not do
We do not publish awards we have not won, press coverage we have not received, or customer satisfaction statistics we have not measured. If you see a claim on this site, it is because it is true and can be checked.
Our reviews are a case in point. We hold 5.0 out of 5 from 21 Tripadvisor reviews, and rather than reprinting them here we link every one to the original so you can read it in context. They are also, honestly, reviews of Uganda safaris rather than gorilla treks or Kenya trips — which the reviews page says out loud.
The same applies to prices and figures. Every number on this site — permit rates, park fees, transfer times — comes from an official tariff or from our own operations, and carries the date it was verified. Where we do not have a figure we trust, we say so rather than repeating one from another website.
How we work
An enquiry produces a written itinerary and an itemised quotation, not an instant price. We show permits, park fees and internal flights as separate lines so you can see what is fixed cost and what is our arrangement.
If your requirements point to Rwanda rather than Uganda, or to a shorter trip than you asked for, we will say so. A badly matched trip helps nobody.
